Gender and Politics Working Group

The Gender Working Group provides a platform for sharing research on gender and politics. Embracing a broad conception of gender, we welcome studies on all major subfields of political science, including comparative politics, international relations, political theory, political psychology, and political economy. We invite researchers who tackle overarching questions in political science from a gendered perspective.

The Gender Working Group is a network of feminist researchers who aim to build a dynamic forum for sharing and discussing research on gender theory, politics, and inequality within and beyond the EUI community. Embracing an interdisciplinary perspective, we meet and discuss throughout a series of events in a colloquium format, including paper presentations, feedback sessions, debates, lectures, and workshops. These events will focus on current gender-related issues, fostering a collaborative environment for the development of innovative ideas and critical discussions in the field.

Despite significant progress in gender studies, there remains a notable gap in the number of researchers focused on gender in European universities. To address this, the Gender Working Group strives to achieve two key objectives. In the short term, we aim to create a robust network for researchers, fostering collaborations and support among both junior and senior researchers while also enhancing the visibility of this research. Our long-term goal is to encourage research on gender issues, contributing to closing the gap by emphasising the necessity and urgency of a gender approach to research across European universities.

We meet once per month from 4:30 to 6 pm in a colloquium format, finalising the year with a workshop to promote networking among young researchers working on gender and politics. All EUI members are welcome to attend
