The historical archives of the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC) have been digitised and are now available online on the website of the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU). Based on a contract of deposit signed by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris and the HAEU of March 1992, the OEEC files were deposited for 20 years at the HAEU along with other related historical archives of the OECD, such as the Committee for European Economic Cooperation (CEEC), European Payments Union/European Monetary Agreement (EPU/EMA), European Productivity Agency (EPA), Eurochemic Company (CHEM), Dragon Project (DRA), Halden Reactor Project (HAL) and the European Nuclear Energy Agency (NUC).

The 521 paper files pertaining to the archives of the OEEC were digitised in partnership between the OECD and the HAEU. These files include the minutes and working papers of the Council and Executive Committee as well as papers from the various vertical and horizontal committees and working parties of the Organisation such as: the Inter-governmental Committee for the Establishment of a European Free Trade Area, the Directorate for Food and Agriculture, the Economic Committee, the European Conference of Ministers of Transport, the Fiscal Committee, the Trade Committee and the re-organisation of the OEEC.

From March 2014, the HAEU will no longer be the temporary custodian of the OEEC/OECD historical records. The OECD has established a state of the art repository and a reading room service for its historical archives and, therefore, the aforementioned fonds will be repatriated to Paris. The fruitful archival cooperation of the two institutions will continue as the HAEU will offer to researchers on its website the inventory to the OEEC files along with the digital copies.
