young europeansThe first group of documents of the deposit by the European Youth Forum (EYF) is now open for consultation. EYF is a platform that works to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their own lives. Papers now available for research date from 1999 to 2002.

The European Youth Forum is a platform, operative since 1999, which brings together 99 European Youth Councils and non-profit organisations representing over 10 million young people. EYF’s aim is to promote and represent the interests of young people throughout Europe and towards European institutions. Its main goals are greater youth participation, stronger youth organisations and increased youth autonomy and inclusion.
The set of documents now available for researchers in Villa Salviati, Florence, consist of 50 files relating to the meetings of EYF’s governing bodies and activities. The entity was transferred to the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence in 2013. The fonds have been deposited at the Historical Archives by a contract signed with the European Youth Forum in February 2001.

Now accessible is a collection of agendas, minutes, reports and working papers of the bureau meetings and of the General Assembly. Information about budgetary questions as well as General Secretary’s correspondence is also available. Documents relating to EYF’s activities mostly have to do with social affairs, cooperation with EU’s institutions and education.

This variety of material sheds new light onto the development of Europe of the young. The fonds integrate in a unique way with other material already available at the HAEU for scholars and other interested parties.
