"Heritage of the European Science Foundation" seminar at Villa Salviati

Posted on 01 April 2016

From Monday 11 April to Tuesday 12 April the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) will host a seminar on the heritage of the European Science Foundation at Villa Salviati. The event is organised by the European Science Foundation (ESF), the HAEU and the University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Studies.  The seminar will take place from 14:00 to 18:00 on Monday and from 09:00 to 13:00 on Tuesday.

During the past 40 years, the ESF has accumulated a very significant body of documents representing a resource for several purposes including the science and management of research.  As a part of ESF’s evolution into a services-based institution its archives documenting the past activities has been deposited  at the Historical Archives of the EU which will make ESF’s documents accessible to researchers.  While this seminar marks the archival deposit of the ESF collection, it also offers an opportunity to discuss the ESF heritage in the context of current and future developments in the governance and collaboration of research in Europe.
