The inventory for the fonds CM2/1973 is now available online. It is composed of 2065 files concerning the work of Council of the European Communities in the field of external relations and in particular trade and commercial agreements with third countries, with EFTA and the EC’s Mediterranean neighbours. The financing of food aid programmes for less developed countries is also well documented in this fonds, as well as the Community’s commitment to development. As can be seen from the files, the regulation of the EC’s budget required an immense amount of work, as did agriculture. A considerable amount of regulations, proposals and directives were issued for all agricultural products regulated by the Community.
The Council’s relations with the other EC institutions and with International organisations are well covered by the files. Other subjects at the forefront of the Council’s agenda in 1973 were: regional policy, industrial policy and the approximation of the laws of Member States.
There is a considerable amount of files concerning the activities of COST, the European framework supporting trans-national cooperation among researchers, engineers and scholars across Europe in transport and telecommunications.
The documents are mostly in French, German and Italian, with a significant number also in English and Danish.
