The private archives of Carlo Scarascia Mugnozza are now available for consultation in digital form at the Historical Archives of the European Union.
The archives comprise 85 paper files covering Scarascia Mugnozza’s career in Italian politics and in European Institutions. The papers were deposited at the Historical Archives of the European Union in October 1999. The documents have now been fully digitized and are made available for consultation online.
Scarascia Mugnozza served in the European parliament from 1961 to 1972, where he chaired the Committee on Energy, the Committee on Research and the Parliamentary Political Committee. Between 1972 until 1977 he was a member of the European Commission, serving as Commissioner for agriculture and later as Commissioner for institutional relations, environment and transport. In addition to papers from his political career, there is also some archival material pertaining to his later roles as president or member of various organizations and associations.
