The Eurolib (European Community and Associated Institutions Library Cooperative Group) fonds is now available for research at the Historical Archives of the European Union and its inventory can be consulted online. The collection was deposited at the HAEU in November 2016 and consists of 95 dossiers.
The documents refer to Eurolib’s activities from its establishment in 1988 to 2009 and includes correspondence between members, minutes of the meetings hosted by EU libraries, and files relating to various Eurolib projects.
The fonds reflects Eurolib’s attempt to foster cooperation between libraries of European institutions and bodies, aimed at enhancing the exchange of information on European integration history and on other activities relating to EU affairs. Founding members of Eurolib include the European Investment Bank, the Council, the Economic and Social Committee, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, and the European University Institute. In addition, non-EU institutions in various countries are involved in Eurolib.
Eurolib activities are concerned with inter-library collaboration and range from document transfers between participating libraries, to the exchange of cataloguing data, continuing professional education, and the development of common bibliographic control tools.
