The next episode of the series of web-radio talks “Europe in your Living Room” organized in the context of the HAEU educational programme will be broadcasted on Wednesday 9 December at 11:00, with former MEP Monica Baldi sharing her experiences as Member of the European Parliament throughout the EP’s fourth legislature.
Monica Stefania Baldi was, between July 1994 and July 1999, Member of the European Parliament in the Forza Europa Group (Forza Italia), member of the Bureau of the Group Union for Europe, and member of the Group of the European People’s Party. She acted as first Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, Media and Sport, and was member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection, and of the Committee on Women's Rights. She was appointed as member of the Joint Assembly Africa, Caribbean and Pacific and the European Union (ACP-EU), where she chaired the Group on Climate Change in Small Island States.
The web-radio talk with former MEP Monica Baldi will be the occasion to learn more about her experiences as MEP, but also to present her private papers recently deposited at the HAEU, which concern her parliamentary and political activities in the European context. The files relate to her activities in the European Parliament and include her interventions in parliamentary debates, working documents, reports, draft resolutions, statements, and parliamentary questions. Her papers comprise also files pertaining to her political activities, including her speeches and interventions during conferences, as well as documents related to Baldi’s political actions and humanitarian missions, meeting notes and press reviews.
The Covid-19 crisis and the related measures taken by the EUI and the Italian government have limited the possibilities for the HAEU education team to go to schools and for students to visit the Archives’ seat at Villa Salviati. Broadcasted on the EUI independent web-radio Radio Cavolo, the series of web-radio talks “Europe in your Living Room” offers the possibility for the HAEU education team to reach out to students, teachers, and all those interested in discussing issues related to Europe and European integration. Each episode consists in a short interview, in Italian, with a guest involved in the HAEU educational programme – be it archivists, teachers, or trainers. This initiative enables interaction in new and alternative ways, as well as the development of new distance teaching and learning methods.
