To celebrate the International Women’s Day, the Historical Archives of the European Union contributes by commemorating the life and academic activity of Lorella Cedroni (1961-2013), political philosopher, and EUI alumna.
In 2013, the private papers of Lorella Cedroni, containing personal and professional correspondence, working documents, and personal belongings, were deposited at the Historical Archives of the EU for preservation and public access.
A precocious and brilliant scholar, Cedroni read Political Science in Rome, and Philosophy in Urbino. In 1999, she defended her PhD thesis in Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute, supervised by professors Alessandro Pizzorno and Steven Lukes. Shortly before her passing, she had been appointed Professor of Political Philosophy at the Sapienza University of Rome. Her studies concerned the concept of democracy, the forms of political representation, human rights, gender studies, populism, and the languages of politics.
