Outreach

Outreach activities across the African continent involve YALP alumni

The EUI regularly organises outreach events in different regions in Africa that include high-level policy dialogues, training on topics related to transnational governance and engagement with alumni.

The outreach activities aim to reconnect with the YALP alumni in the region and enhance this network at regional level. Alumni are involved in the capacity development training across Africa with the aim of multiplying the knowledge and capacity developed through the YALP programme in Florence.

A first event focusing on the governance of migration took place in Kampala in July 2022. The following year, 2023, a second EUI event and training session was held in Accra, Ghana, revolving around Africa’s sustainable energy transition and how to finance it.

In November 2024, a roundtable and executive training course will take place in Pretoria to address key issues relating to Africa’s strategic position and its engagement with the global community. The initiative ‘Shaping the Future: Multilateralism and the Geopolitical Agency of Africa’ is run in collaboration with the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and marks the EUI’s third consecutive outreach event in Africa.
