This workshop, organised by the Queer and Feminist Studies Working Group, aims to celebrate International Women's Day together with the Biblioteca Femminista, a volunteer organisation collecting and lending feminist books in central Florence, and a meeting and organising space for different local activist groups. Please note that on 11th March the event will be held at the EUI from 11:00 to 17:00, and on 12th March it will be held at the Biblioteca Femminista from 10:00 to 17:30 (Via Fiesolana 2b).

This workshop features a day of presentations on the topic of writing history from literary sources, specifically women's writings, and on how writings have themselves played an important role in shaping women's histories. The first day (11 March) will explore both methodological approaches and issues for historians researching literary sources, and specific questions raised by women's literary production. On the second day (12 March), in the morning, there will be a workshop where researchers can present their literary sources and questions they have about these and get feedback from their peers and external guests. In the afternoon, we will visit the Biblioteca (via Fiesolana 2b) together and learn about their history, role in the Italian women's movement, and about the archives they still hold.

Participants who would like to present a source on the second day of the workshop should get in touch with the organisers by the 20th of February the latest. Please write Giselle Bernard, Louisa Niesen, Zsofia Veszely
