Join Chantal Mak and Betül Kas in an engaging discussion on the dynamics of private law decision-making in Europe, starting from their recently published book 'Civil Courts and the European Polity'.

The book 'Civil Courts and the European Polity', edited by Chantal Mak and Betül Kas, addresses the place and role of judge-made private law in an emerging European polity. It describes two topical issues in the academic debate, namely the influence of fundamental rights in private legal relations, and the constitutional dimension of European private law. Both topics are addressed in the book through the contributions of academics and judges providing practical examples and horizontal analysis. The event will take a stance from the book and will engage the participants in a discussion on the new avenues of research opened by the book, starting from the different impact that fundamental rights have in the different private law sectors and the role that the European Charter of Fundamental Rights can play in changing the procedural law in the national legal system.

This event is hybrid. Please register to receive the Zoom link.
