The events held by the European Japan Advanced Research Network (EJARN) in 2023 highlighted the growing strength of Asian countries in regional and global politics. China’s continued engagement in Russia’s war in Ukraine, India’s successful hosting of the G20 summit, and Japan’s similar role in the G7 summit were but a few occurrences in which these countries played a large role.
Increasingly, the Indo-Pacific region is becoming the beacon of not only growth and innovation, but also political leadership. However, are the Indo-Pacific strategies and visions of Asian, as well as extra-regional, powers, complementary? What dynamics shape the region, and how is it possible to best grasp them?
