Founding documents, press releases, photographs and personal reflections are featured in a new online exhibit published on the multimedia platform of the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU).
The HAEU turns 40! is a digital celebration of the establishment of the Archives in Florence in 1984 and the work it does to preserve and promote the memory of European integration.
The history and activities of the Archives are summarised in six brief chapters that cover its creation by the then-European Communities; its mission to facilitate public access and preserve primary sources; the Archives’ placement at the European University Institute; and its education and outreach activities.
While much of the material is extracted from the volume Forty Years of Access and Preservation: Historical Archives of the European Union, the multimedia exhibit also includes additional photos and links to other online exhibits, such as the virtual European Community at Expo 58.
Dr Anastasia Remes curated the online exhibition.
