European elections and the future of Europe: what to conclude, what to expect?

On the occasion of The State of the Union (4-6 May 2017), the Constitutionalism and Politics Working Group and the EUI Alumni Association organize an after-work gathering around the theme:

“European elections and the future of Europe: what to conclude, what to expect?”

For this discussion we have the honour to welcome:

• Professor Hanspeter Kriesi, Department of Political and Social Sciences, EUI
• Céline Geissmann, Vice-President of Jeunes Européens France
• Vincent Chauvet, founder of the Citizenship Initiative Single Tariff & Young Democrats for Europe (YDE)
• Marianne Escurat, founder of Europe en Marche

 Théo Fournier, convener of the Constitutionalism and Politics Working Group, will moderate the debate, which will be in English.

The participants will share their views and opinions on upcoming elections in Europe and on reforms to be undertaken to relaunch the European Union construction.

This brief debate will be followed by a Q&A session, and an informal drink.

The State of the Union is an opportunity to gather people from all over Europe and with various backgrounds. We wish to find the same diversity for this event, which, being a bottom-up initiative from the EUI researchers’ community, is not part of the official programme. It is precisely conceived as an informal event.

We encourage young EU professionals and researchers but also politicians, professors, journalists to exchange thoughts, meet in a more informal manner, and forge connections.
