The EUI and the EUI Library will be closed for the 2019 summer holidays from Wednesday 7 to Tuesday 20 August (inclusive), and will reopen on Wednesday 21 August.
All access gates will be closed from Tuesday 6 August 11 pm to Wednesday 21 August 6 am.
During the closure all EUI Buildings, with the sole exception of the Badia Fiesolana, will be totally closed and EUI ID card readers deactivated (access with EUI ID cards will be granted only at the Badia Fiesolana).
Access to the Badia will be possible via the pedestrian entrance in the Church square, via the Sanfelice Gate, via the pedestrian gate of the connecting road from Villa Schifanoia and via the Ponte alla Badia gate (pedestrian and bike transit only).
Please note: From Wednesday 7 August to Tuesday 20 August all EUI car parks (P1, P2 and P3) will be completely inaccessible to vehicles, due to the closure of the internal driveway from Ponte alla Badia.
During the summer break the following provisions will enter into force:
- The Upper Cloister (28 working spaces equipped with 12 PCs), and the canteen area of the Badia (Wi-Fi connection available) will be accessible to all EUI researchers. All other areas (including administrative offices) will not be accessible unless specifically mentioned.
- Cleaning services will be guaranteed in above mentioned spaces and in the nearby facilities. Air conditioning will be operational in these areas only (7-20 7/7) and a vending machine for hot/cold drinks and snacks will be available in the Upper Cloister, in the STG lobby. The IO-BEVO machine in the canteen area and the water dispenser in the bank corridor will be accessible 24h 7/7.
- For security reasons the REF Service reminds users to close the external shutters of windows before they leave for the summer break.
- The Institute will not provide any assistance for watering office plants, so individuals should make their own provisions accordingly.
- We would also like to remind you about the importance of complying with a series of policies and procedures that are currently in place at the EUI (https://www.eui.eu/ServicesAndAdmin/LogisticsService/PoliciesandProcedures) and draw your attention to the relevant following information:
- PARKING
Please remember that cars and other motor vehicles must be registered and may be left in the EUI car parks only while the owners are present at the Institute: any vehicle left in the EUI Car Parks without authorization/not registered will be notified and, if no action is taken, removal will be enforced.
If you plan to leave Florence or the EUI for the summer holidays, for a period not exceeding 90 days, you can apply for the long-term parking procedure (long-term parking requests for cars, motorbikes and bikes will be accepted only if submitted before Wednesday, 31 July).
Further info is available here.
Please note: at the reopening of the EUI on 21 August the P3 car park will remain closed: available car parks at the Badia Fiesolana will be P1 and P2.
- EUI ACCESS POLICY
Please remember that off-hours access to EUI premises (Badia Fiesolana during the summer break) is granted only to authorized EUI members using their EUI ID card and in any case under their own responsibility. Further info is available here.

All porters’ lodges, except for the Badia Fiesolana, will follow Summer opening hours (8-17 instead of 8-19 Mon-Fri) until 6 August and from 21 to 23 August.
- BAR AND CANTEENS
With the exception of the Badia Fiesolana bar and canteen, which will maintain its regular opening hours (closing only during the Summer Break 7 to 20 August inclusive), all other canteens will be closed from 29 July to 23 August inclusive. The light lunch menu service at the Badia canteen on Saturdays will not be available until 31 August inclusive.
