Practical Information

Welcome to the practical information page for visitors attending events at the Robert Schuman Centre, European University Institute.

Venues

Please be aware that the European University Institute (EUI) campus consists of multiple buildings. Please refer to the email sent by the conference organiser for the correct location of your event.

 

 Getting to the venue

    Departing from Santa Maria Novella train station:
  • To Badia Fiesolana: take the tramway T2 in the direction of San Marco and disembark at the Libertà Parterre stop. Walk to the nearby bus stop Libertà Porta San Gallo, board bus No. 7 and get off stop No. 7 Di San Domenico Istituto Europeo (map). From there, walk about 5 minutes until you reach the Badia Fiesolana (map).
  • To Villa Schifanoia: take the tramway T2 in the direction of San Marco and disembark at the Libertà Parterre stop. Walk to the nearby bus stop Libertà Porta San Gallo, board bus No. 7 and get off stop No. 7 Di San Domenico Istituto Europeo (map). From there, walk down about 400 meters (map).
  • To Villa Salviati: take the tramway T2 in the direction of San Marco and disembark at the Liberta' Parterre stop. Walk to the nearby bus stop Libertà Porta San Gallo, board bus No. 25 and get off Bolognese Il Cionfo stop (map). From there walk for 300 meters to the villa (map).
  • To Villa La Fonte: take the tramway T2 in the direction of San Marco and disembark at the Libertà Parterre stop. Walk to the nearby bus stop Libertà Porta San Gallo, board bus No. 7 and get off stop No. 7 Di San Domenico Istituto Europeo (map). From there, walk down about 900 meters (map).
  • To Palazzo Buontalenti: several options are available: bus No. 6, bus No. 14 or tramway T2 (map).

Getting to Florence

  1. Florence Peretola Airport (8 km from the city centre): information for travel to & from the airport can be found here;
  2. Pisa International Airport, or Galileo Galilei Airport (85 km from Florence): information for travel to & from the airport can be found here;
  3. Guglielmo Marconi Bologna International Airport (105 km from the centre): information for travel to & from the airport can be found here.

You can reach Florence by train using either Trenitalia or Italo. Florence central station is Santa Maria Novella.

Accommodation

Unless agreed otherwise with the event organiser, participants are responsible for their accommodation during their stay in Florence.

The European University Institute is located in Fiesole on the hills overlooking Florence (apart from Palazzo Buontalenti that is situated downtown). Therefore, we suggest to book your accommodation near bus route number 7 to facilitate transportation to the venues.

At the EUI and the Robert Schuman Centre, we are dedicated to removing barriers and providing equal opportunities for everyone. Please contact the logistics organiser of the event you are attending to indicate your accessibility needs, if any.

We strongly encourage all participants coming from outside Europe to stipulate individual/private health insurance for your entire stay in Florence. The host institution (EUI) is not liable for any personal health occurrences that happened during your visit.
