Jean Monnet, a founding father of the European Union, said that Europe will be forged in crisis. There have been no shortages of crises recently to put Monnet’s predictions to empirical test. From the sovereign debt crises, to Brexit, Russia’s war against Ukraine and the energy shock, Europe has been confronted with enormous social, political and economic challenges. This event brings together the research communities at the EUI and the Scuola Normale Superiore to reflect on some of the biggest challenges that lie ahead and the extent to which the EU is equipped to cope with them. This event is co-organised between the European University Institute and the Scuola Normale Superiore.
