The EUI Library has openings for a limited number of remunerated traineeships every year

The EUI Library is a small vibrant academic library meeting the research needs of EUI professors, fellows and PhD researchers in the Social Sciences.

Our services include InterLibrary Loan, Circulation, Acquisitions, Institutional Repository and Open Science, Cataloguing, Electronic Resources Management, Integrated Library Systems and Journals.

Our trainees have the opportunity of working in one or more of these services, carrying out both basic day to day library tasks but also being part of special projects.

 

Qualifications Required



  • Candidates must have obtained a university degree, in Library and Information Studies or similar, by the closing date for applications, and not more than three years before the start date of the traineeship (unless currently enrolled in further studies)
  • Ability to work in an international team 
  • Excellent knowledge of English and good knowledge of a second EU language 
  • Important Information:  Please see conditions for eligibility on EUI Traineeships page. Note – To be considered for a traineeship, candidates must be nationals of the Member States of the European Union or of candidate countries benefiting from a pre-accession strategy.

The call for paid 12-month library traineeships in 2025 is now closed.

The deadline to send the following documentation  to [email protected] was 31 October 2024:

  • CV (which includes an indication of nationality) 
  • Motivation letter

You should ask for one person, not related to you, to send a reference testifying to your character, experience, and/or skills, directly to [email protected] 

 

Trainee grant

The trainee will receive a grant of €1,420 per month (as from 1st July 2024). A remunerated trainee who is recruited from outside Florence is entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses actually incurred at the beginning and the end of the traineeship.

Additional information


Only candidates invited for an interview will receive information on the selection status from the EUI. If you have not heard from us within 3 months after the application deadline (i.e. 31 October 2024), you can assume your application has not been successful on that occasion, but please note you are welcome to apply for any other future vacancy of interest.
