Close sidebar Home » Research » Library » Services » Computers in the Library Open sidebar menu Using Computers in the Library Public Access Computers Using Your Laptop Saving & Downloading Content Off-site Access Public Access Computers There are 35 public access computers in the Library: 28 desktop PCs located throughout the Library for the exclusive use of current EUI members (EUI login required, access to EUI print quota) 14 monitors for use with laptops 3 Internet-only PCs on the Library entrance floor for all Library visitors to use (pre-paid copy card required for printing) 3 wall-mounted Totem PCs distributed throughout the Library for Catalogue and Internet consultation (no printing or downloading) Photocopying, Printing and Scanning from public access computers Using Your Laptop All Library working spaces and tables have a fixed LAN cable for connecting your laptop to the Internet. There is also an anchor for attaching a cable lock to your laptop. You must bring your own lock cable (sold at the EUI Shop). Laptops left unattended in the Library (locked or unlocked) is at your own risk. The Library disclaims all reponsibilty for laptops or personal posessions left unattended. Please refer to the following webpages for detailed information on using your laptop at the EUI: Connections (includes configuring access via LAN connections) Wireless Access for EUI members and Alumni Association members (EUI-WiFi) Wireless Access for Registered Guests (EUI-Guest) eduroam Network (Note: Visitors to the EUI using eduroam WiFi are not entitled to access the EUI Library’s licensed e-resources) Multifunction Network Printers (how to configure your laptop) For technical assistance with laptop access in the Library (e.g. missing lan cables), contact the Computing Site Officer for the Badia: [email protected] Tel int: 2338 N.B. if LAN cable not working or missing, include the LAN cable port number Saving and Downloading Content Users must abide by the Terms and Conditions of Use for Licensed Electronic Resources and the Library Copyright Policies when saving or downloading content. Files may be downloaded and saved to a USB storage device from all desktop and Internet-only PCs in the Library. Unfortunately, not all USB devices are compatible. Compatible USB devices are sold in the EUI shop. It is not possible to save files from Totem PCs. Instructions on how to print and save to a USB device are posted on the wall next to each Internet-only PC located on the Library entrance floor. Page last updated on 08 February 2024
