Saara Hämäläinen graduated with a Master's Degree in Social Policy from the University of Turku, Finland, in 2010. After graduation she worked as a doctoral student and university teacher in social policy and social work at the University of Turku. In 2012, she embarked on her doctoral studies at the European University Institute under the supervision of Hans-Peter Blossfeld. She worked as a research assistant in the "eduLIFE project" from April 2013 to June 2013.
